It might seem like a bit of a young person’s thing to visit an enormous venue that houses thousands just to get crushed by said thousands all in honour of listening to live music. Well, certain bands and certain gigs aren’t always for the faint of heart, we’ll admit (Opeth, Slipknot, Rage Against the Machine), but most gig venues these days – size dependant – have a section just for those who would rather rest their weary feet and their aching back instead of finding themselves getting very friendly with a 6 foot tall greebo who hasn’t washed his hair for three weeks. You wouldn’t be able to see over the top of his greasy head anyway.

Concerts and gigs differ from band to band, artist to artist. Take Rod Stewart for instance; his gigs are going to be calm, they’re probably going to be seated and they’re not going to require bracing yourself for impact every time a raucous guitar phrase kicks in (just for the record, Rod Stewart has no songs involving raucous guitars). You can be safe in the knowledge that you aren’t going to get head-butted, stomped on or elbowed.
