Athletic and acrobatic, Basketball is the perfect sport for anyone toweringly tall and dextrous. That’s not to say someone small can’t play, they just might need to lower the hoop. It’s the cool sport, glamorous, fierce, and even a little bit elegant at times, so if you are looking for a challenge, it’s definitely the sport for you. Ok, now here is a fact or two for you, to get you in the right frame of mind: 1) Basketball was first played using a football. The orange ball was later introduced to be visible to players and spectators! 2) Originally, the primary way to move the ball was to pass it, not to dribble with it.

Now we’ve offered a bit of Basketball education, we’ll get down to the nitty gritty. If you seriously want to play, you’re going to need some equipment first. To start with, it’s easy to put up a hoop and backboard in your back garden if you don’t have a local court to use, just make sure you put it somewhere far away from anything breakable, windows especially. Then you’re going to need a ball, the right clothes, the right shoes. If you really want to go the whole hog, get your hands on some wristbands and caps, too. You could even create your own strip, if you really wanted to! Then, once you have yourself kitted out, you’re ready to get started!
