The Miniature Poodle is an extremely quick learner and is very easy to train. This breed gets along well with other dogs and household animals but can be reserved towards strangers. It is advised to socialise the Miniature Poodle as a puppy. The breed is recommended for older children as it does not enjoy rough play. They tend to bark a lot and this should be discouraged from an early age.

Exercise
The Miniature Poodle is very playful and requires a daily walk. Despite the size, Miniature Poodles need a fair amount of exercise with regular opportunities to run off the lead in a safe and secure location.

History
The Miniature Poodle originated in France and was originally used as a retriever. The Miniature Poodle has genetic links with the now extinct French water dog and the Barbet. The word ‘Poodle’ probably comes from the German word ‘pudel’, meaning to play in water. . This easily trained breed has been used for many different things including; hunter, circus entertainer and sniffer dog. Today, the Miniature Poodle is mainly used as a loving companion and family pet.  The breed has been recognised by all major worldwide dog clubs.
