Life Expectancy 10 –12 years History The Puli originated in Hungary as far back as the middle ages. They were originally bred for herding and guarding sheep. The black coated dogs were preferred because they were easier to spot amongst the sheep. The Puli Dog is also known as the Pulik, Hungarian Puli and Hungarian Water Dog. The breed is mainly used today as a family companion and show dog. They are relatively rare outside their native country of Hungary.
