Arguably the most famous of them for the four violin concertos known as The Seasons, Vivaldi utilised the violin to create a popular Baroque piece that is one of the most famous classical pieces of all time. Of course, that might seem a bit dated now, but with the appearance of modern string quartets (comprised of four string instruments, usually two violins, a cello and a viola) like Vitamin, who release tribute albums to rock and pop acts, string instruments are finding their way back into the mainstream.
