When you think of percussion instruments, it probably reminds you of bygone school days playing the glockenspiel or the xylophone or the snare drum. Chimes, cymbals, bells and the triangle also fall into the category. Basically it refers to almost any instrument you strike with a beater or a stick. You might be under the impression that these instruments have no place in a professional environment, but if you take a look at any orchestra you will see how wrong you are. The glockenspiel especially is a popular orchestral instrument that takes a lot of skill and practise to play professionally and there is always someone there to give the traingle a well-timed tap.
