If you’re a modern cookie, you might think that the only use for records is defending your home against zombies when they stumble towards you, gurgling and spewing all kind of nasty bodily fluids. It’s true that they make excellent weapons against the armies of the undead (you’ll get exactly what we’re referring to if you’re a fan of Shaun of the Dead), but believe it or not, they do have other important uses.

Records have a cool, indie sort of vibe to them. Rooting through piles of them in old fashioned music shops is great fun, but you can’t always find exactly what you’re looking for. You might be in search of a present for your Dad to play on that 40 year old record player sitting in the living room, or you might be after something just a little bit different, but there is truly nothing like listening to an old record on an old record player, chilling out with a mug of tea or a glass of wine and delighting in a sound probably as old as you are. It’s different to listening to a CD. The sound is different along with the atmosphere and the mood. It can be ambient and calm, or jazzy and exciting in ways CDs don’t seem to achieve. EPs and LPs from across the decades; just imagine how rare some of them are now because so many people consider them obsolete.
