Man has been buying and selling for hundreds of years now. The ancient Chinese used to say: “if you have two loaves of bread, sell one and buy a lily”. This turned out to be a little restrictive as a life philosophy, but we got the general message and started trading. Since then we’ve come to realize just how satisfying it can be to find a real bargain or to sell goods at a great price.

But over the last decade the way we trade has changed dramatically. More sales are now being made online and whizzier PCs plus broadband have opened up loads of new buying and selling opportunities.

However despite this progress, we came to the conclusion that many aspects of online trading are frankly not that great:

-     Looming large over the online world you’ve got some big impersonal sites with rather high fees (you know who you are…)

-    There are, we admit, some smaller trading sites which are indeed warm and cuddly (why don’t the French have a word for cuddly?) but these tend to be rather specialized.

-    Numerous classified ads sites exist, but these were mainly created when the internet was young. Most have few redeeming qualities (we’re being polite….)

So the adflyer boys (there were no girls during the geeky phase) locked themselves away for many long months and developed a completely new site which included many of those features which they knew were missing elsewhere.

Our goal: to make adflyer the marketplace where smarter people buy and sell.

Here’s how:

1.    Make the site as simple as possible to use
2.    Build a strong adflyer community where everyone feels at home – whether you are a business with        large range of products or just selling the odd item.
3.    Concentrate on providing the best products available (so no dubious “business opportunities” or,             ahem, “services” on our site).

Our view is: “smart people, all the time”.
However there are some sections of the population who are particularly suited to become loyal adflyer users. So, if you are:

-    Someone of above average intelligence
See point about smart people above. However if you appreciate rapid navigation, an advanced compare facility and a site which is not bogged down with want-ads and requests for personal services then adflyer could be for you.

-    A current online trader
You’re accustomed to selling online but would really like an additional source of revenue. And one that makes you higher margins because we don’t charge you much in fees.

-    A business owner who wants to get their company noticed
We know just how tough it can be to get customers to visit your website: it takes a lot of time and effort tweaking content and fiddling around with SEO – time which you could be spending doing other more useful stuff. That’s why adflyer invest a lot of time every day making sure that our site is very attractive to Google, Yahoo and the other search engines. We do it so you don’t have to.
